LIRPC Says Multifamily Housing is Good for LI

And the Data Shows it! Click here to find out more!

LI2035 is the plan for Long Island’s future. Developed and presented by the Long Island Regional Planning Council, it provides the information, ideas and strategies to get us to a sustainable Long Island defined by a strong regional economy, affordable and diverse housing options, equitable communities and the cherished quality of life Long Islanders have been drawn to for generations and continue to aspire to.

The strategies covered in LI2035 address today’s needs and position Long Island for tomorrow. They include Tax & Governance, the Economy, the Environment & Infrastructure, and Equity. Together, these create a positive environment for living and working on Long Island, while also helping the region prepare for the changing economic, social and environmental realities of 21st century living.

LI2035.org is the opportunity for Long Islanders to play an active role in our future and recognizes that with the right information and a user-focused, user-friendly forum, Long Islanders can and should have a voice.

A number of critical issues ranging from housing to government efficiency to property taxes to economic development have been addressed thoughtfully, intelligently, comprehensively and honestly. One-by-one these issues will be shared through this website. Valuable and usable data, expert commentary and opinions, and a forum for public input. The goal of this initiative is to engage Long Islanders an issue at a time without overwhelming us. The first issue to be addressed is housing.

“By reforming housing, we can help create a more sustainable Long Island. Too many college grads from Long Island are moving to NYC after graduation. If there was more affordable housing, we could have a stronger work force.”
Eliot Hecht

“This is a great idea!! I really hope it gets done sooner rather than later!!”

“Great website to address many of Long Island's issues and concerns. People are really struggling to understand housing information these days, and this is a great resource.”
